开平碉楼到了。大家请带齐行李物品下车。大家请看：开平碉楼是中国乡土建筑的一个特殊类型，是一种集防卫、居住和中西建筑艺术于一体的多层塔楼式建筑。2007年6月28日，“开平碉楼与古村落”申请世界文化遗产项目在新西兰第31届世界遗产大会上获得通过。这也是广东第一个世界文化遗产项目。

On June 28, 2007, "Kaiping blockhouse and ancient village" applied for the world cultural heritage project and was approved at the 31st World Heritage conference in New Zealand. This is also the first world cultural heritage project in Guangdong.

它造型别致，中西合璧。开平碉楼的上部造型最具表现力，人们着力运用外国建筑中的穹顶、山花、柱式等建筑元素大做文章，形成了千楼千面的建筑式样。
It has a unique shape and combines Chinese with western. The upper part of Kaiping blockhouse is the most expressive. People make great efforts to use the architectural elements such as dome, mountain flower and column style in foreign architecture to form a thousand buildings and thousands of faces.
它有很强的防卫能力。开平碉楼为多层建筑，远远高于一般的民居，便于居高临下地防御；
碉楼的墙体比普通的民居厚实坚固，不怕匪盗凿墙或火攻；
碉楼的窗户比民居开口小，都有铁栅和窗扇，外设铁板窗门。碉楼上部的四角，一般都建有突出悬挑的全封闭或半封闭的角堡。角堡内开设了向前和向下的射击孔，可以居高临下地还击进村之敌；
同时，碉楼各层墙上开设有射击孔，增加了楼内居民的攻击点。
